Toshihide Hirose

Toshihide Hiorse is an orthodontist. He was born in Hyogo, Japan and opened his orthodontic clinic in Hirosaki city, Aomori in 1995 after graduating from faculty of dentistry, Tohoku University. He is interested in the local history of Hirosaki and has published three books (all from Hoppo Shinsha): The Hirosaki old map in the 2nd year of Meiji (2013), Tsugaru Jinbutsu graffiti (Profiles of people from Tsugaru) (2015), Kaku Sudo—the first Japanese-American female physician (2017). He started his blog, Dr. Hirose’s Hirosaki Blogin 2007.

In October 2011, I received an email from Mr. Rysuke Kawai, who is a famous non-fiction writer and has published many excellent books, including Yamato Colony: The Pioneers Who Brought Japan to Florida. The email read: I’m researching the history of Japanese American in Florida. Recently, I found a very interesting woman. Her name is Kaku Sudo. She passed away at the age of 102 years old in Saint-Cloud, Florida in 1963.
