Mimi Okabe nasceu em Miyagi, mas emigrou para o Canadá com a sua família quando tinha 11 meses de idade. Ela tem doutorado em Literatura Comparada pela Universidade de Alberta, onde leciona atualmente. Seus interesses de pesquisa sobre a identidade e cultura nikkei foram inspirados pelo seu papel – junto com a sua osananajimi Sachi – na fundação da Japanese for Nikkei (JFN). No primeiro ano de funcionamento da JFN, atendemos membros da comunidade mundial nikkei no Canadá, Estados Unidos, Suécia, Japão e Austrália! Estamos ansiosas para expandir a nossa comunidade!
